For this calculation, the number of bank evaluations considered exceeded 32,000, 23.5% more than in the same month of 2021, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
In March, the biggest increase in the median value of bank valuation compared to January was registered in Alentejo (2.8% to 928 euros). The only region that showed a negative chain variation was the Algarve (0.6% less to 1,800 euros).
In the month under review, the median bank appraisal value of apartments was 1,476 euros/m2 (square meter), 13.5% more than in March 2021 and 1.0% compared to the previous month.
The highest value of apartments was observed in the Algarve (1,794 euros/m2) and the lowest in Alentejo (964 euros/m2).
According to the median bank valuation index, in March, the Algarve, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and the Alentejo Litoral presented valuation values of 35.2%, 33.6% and 4.2% respectively, higher than the country median.
The region of Beiras and Serra da Estrela continued to be the ones with the lowest value in relation to the median of the country (-48.2%).
This is fascinating, truly fascinating. On what grounds are these properties being given these ridiculous prices? At this going rate most Portuguese will never own properties in their own country.
It's not sustainable for Portuguese citizens, earning minimum wage means you would never qualify for a mortgage!
There needs to be a control board at Finances and at Government level that regulates these estate agents and the house prices in Portugal, this is now a crisis !
