In 2022, buyers from 78 international nationalities bought 1,655 houses in the Urban Rehabilitation Area (ARU) of Lisbon, representing an investment that amounted to 894.3 million euros, according to data released by Confidencial Imobiliário.
"Last year, foreigners invested, on average, 540.4 thousand euros per transaction", according to the report.
French, American, Chinese, British and Brazilian are the most active nationalities, according to the same data.
"The amount invested is 7% below the €957.5 million registered in 2021 and in the number of properties the drop is 10%, buying with the 1,845 homes acquired in the previous year. Also in the number of purchasing nationalities, the difference is little expressive, accounting for 86 active countries in 2021".
Meanwhile, local Portuguese are being priced out of the housing market!
