The band will be the headliner of the Coimbra Chamber's programming to liven up Coimbra's New Year's Eve, performing in Largo da Portagem, in a party that will feature the usual fireworks by the Mondego River, according to the municipality.

The Gipsy Kings were formed in France from descendants of members of the Spanish gypsy community who fled Spain during the civil war.

In addition to the Gipsy Kings, the band Per7ume and the DJ duo Kiss Kiss Bang Bang will also perform on stage at Largo da Portagem.

The fireworks on the night are to last about 15 minutes, with entertainment scheduled until 6:00am.
