In its bulletin, SPAIC reports that “the concentration of pollen in the air is high” in the regions of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Entre Douro and Minho, Beira Litoral, Beira Interior, Lisbon and Setúbal, the Alentejo and the Algarve.

As for the origin of pollen grains, the most prominent trees in the continent's atmosphere are cypress, pine, birch, oak, cork oak and holm oak, as well as the herbs “grasses, plantain, sorrel, and nettle”.

In the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores, the concentration of pollen in the atmosphere is low, with pollen from cypress, pine and eucalyptus trees standing out, as well as from grasses, plantain and nettles.
