According to official data, there are 19 more people admitted to hospitals, with a total of 1,208 admissions now, but there are three fewer people in intensive care units (ICU), which puts the total number of ICU patients at 82.
In the last 24 hours, there were 11,203 recoveries from the infection and there are now 478,148 active cases (minus 1,154), according to the DGS.
Of the 17 deaths, eight were registered in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, the North and Centre regions each registered four cases and the Algarve registered one death. The autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores and Alentejo did not register any deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the DGS, although the Azores (with its own health service) reported one death in its daily bulletin.
Most new infections confirmed in the last 24 hours were recorded in the regions of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (4,117) and Centre (1,997), followed by the North region (1,613), the Algarve (840), the Alentejo (585) , Madeira (551) and the Azores (363).
Among the 3,329,254 infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, there are 1,548,428 men and 1,780,826 women, with 2,946 infected people of unknown sex.
As for deaths, of the total of 21,199 deaths recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, 11,152 were men and 10,047 were women.
