In a request addressed to the chairman of the Economy, Public Works and Housing and Planning Commission, the social democrat Afonso Oliveira, stresses that the air carrier “has been accumulating negative results since 2018, a situation that worsened during the pandemic”.
The Social Democrats justify the request for explanations because the support to TAP approved in 2021 in Brussels involves “an authorized State aid of 3.2 billion euros”, which they consider to be “a very expressive weight in the mobilisation of public resources” .
Losses
PSD deputies highlight that TAP recorded “a loss of almost 1,600 million euros in 2021, which is equivalent to about 4.3 million euros per day”.
“The company has incomprehensibly changed the priority of its routes, namely from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto, eliminating some of the flights with evident losses for the entire northern region”, criticizes the PSD.
