EDITOR, Since the second world war there has been no need for gas, oil or coal. What you do is you take oil rigs and position them close to the continental shelf west of the UK. Inside the frame of the rigs you install a flotation chamber, which goes up and down with the waves and drives a generator producing electricity. You wire all the rigs together and run a cable ashore.
Where the ocean meets the continental shelf it is never calm. Even on a windless day there is always a 15ft swell. Waves 150ft have been recorded there and what that would do to the flotation chamber, God knows, I’ll have to leave that to the ‘experts’
