SATA Azores Airlines together with the Madeira Promotion Association announced the launch of the new air connection between Funchal (FNC) and New York (JFK) which will be available year-round with a weekly frequency.
“After performing, for the first time, direct flights between Madeira and JFK Airport, starting in November 2022, we create conditions to continuously expand connections from one station to another, which is important for those who want to travel and for the market, for the confidence it conveys,” said Eduardo Jeses, president of the Madeira Promotion Association.
The route will be operated on Airbus A321neo aircraft with a capacity of 190 seats during the winter season. It will depart from New York on Thursday at 9h20 pm. (local time) and arrive in Madeira at 8h35 am. (local time) the next day. The Madeira-New York connection, in turn, will depart on Fridays, departing at 5h05 pm and arriving in New York at 7h55 pm, according to Publituris.
It is important to note that the first direct Madeira-New York connection took place between 29 November, 2021 and 24 May, 2022. During this period, 19 flights were operated and a total of 4,041 passengers were carried.
