Portugal
has established its place among the big players as a tech haven for digital
nomads and startup tech companies, but there is still a lot to be done on the
part of the government and incubator programs set to expedite foundations and
innovation, and further work still to establish a standard for business within
the sector. That’s why the Ireland Portugal Business Network (IPBN) invites you
to join their upcoming Tech Seminar presented by the IPBN Algarve Committee in
Albufeira on Thursday, September 22 from 9h30 to 13h at Xerem Fusion Cuisine.
According
to this article on the Portuguese government’s efforts to boost the local
startup environment in Essential Business, “StartUp Portugal has €125 million
of Recovery & Resilience Programme funding earmarked for the startups and
entrepreneurial ecosystem and plans to open applications this year. António
Dias Martins, the Director of Startup Portugal told ECO: “We want to increase
startup numbers in Portugal and create the right conditions so that
entrepreneurs feel that Portugal is a good place with all the right conditions
to start up a business."
The focus of the upcoming seminar will be on how the Algarve region is positioning itself to attract digital nomads as well as full-time residents in the sector. Local leaders and IPBN members will discuss how technology is affecting business in the short and long term with added expertise from 2021 Portuguese Tech Award Winner 2021, IPBN member and founder of C-MORE Beyond the Obvious Carolina Almeida Cruz, who will speak on “Social & Environmental Impact in Tech”. Followed by a four-person panel discussion on “Algarve: Europe’s Silicon Valley” moderated by Carolyn McKeown, Director at Shebang Events & PR Management with Edgard Marcondes, co-founder of Invest Portugal and Joana Glória, founder of Lagos Digital Nomads.
