According to a report by Publituris, the route to Porto is
one of 18 new operations announced by the carrier for next summer which also
includes the opening of flights from Riga to Istanbul, Hannover, Bucharest,
Burgas, Bilbao, Tivat, Yerevan, Belgrade and Baku from Riga.
In addition to Riga, airBaltic will also fly from Tallinn,
Estonia, to Split, Rhodes, Dubrovnik and Heraklion, as well as from Vilnius,
capital of Lithuania, to Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Nice and Heraklion.
Alongside the launch of new routes, the airline also announced
the reinforcement of capacity on several other routes, in an increase in flight
frequencies that, according to airBaltic, covers “such popular routes from
Riga, such as Barcelona, Lisbon or Rome”.
“This is the largest number of new routes announced in a
single station, ever seen on airBaltic. We remain committed to our home cities
in the Baltic States and to improving connections to and from the region. We
are thrilled to be expanding the airBaltic offering for the upcoming summer
season, adding new routes and increasing the frequency of flights on our
existing leisure and city breaks routes,” said Martin Gauss, President and CEO
of AirBaltic.
