According to NM, from January to February 2023, registrations of light passenger vehicles of this type totalled 13,433 units, which translated into a positive variation of 59.3 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
Specifically looking at electric vehicles, in February 2023 there was an increase of 143.4 percent compared to the same month of 2022, with 2,592 new passenger cars being registered. In the two months of 2023, there was an increase of 139.3 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year, in new electric light passenger vehicles, with 4,850 units registered.
Adding to this phenomenon, and also helping it, Tesla was one of the brands that grew the most at the beginning of the year.
All cars should be electric, no hybrid, no fuel, a responsible government would forbid fuel cars from entering the market from now.

Imagine 1 million people - and I'm being extremely conservative here with this number - all charging their electric cars at the same time, overnight for example.
Now imagine a farmer being forced to farm his huge land with an electric tractor.
Now imagine delivering foods, medicines and vital supplies, through vast countries or continents, via electric trucks.
Now imagine how many lithium, batteries are needed to provide all people who have fuel cars, with electric cars.
Do any of you know what environmental - not to mention human - impact cobalt mining entails? Ey Diogo? Do you know that it's mined by slaves and children?
And do you know that the life span of such a battery is maximum 5 years?
And do you know that mini cobalt, to then manufacture lithium batteries, irreversibly destroys landscapes, pollutes rivers and soil, thousands of times worse than you can ever imagine?
People are dumb. All they do is repeat what television says. We have never had more information available to us, and never been dumber.
For goodness sake people! WAKE UP ALREADY!!!

A responsible government would have begun preparing decent public transport years ago, a responsible government would have created a safe cycling culture for everyone. Regrettably, Portugal has shown decade after decade how it only knows knee jerk reactions and blame everyone else for its own inefficiencies and lack of vision.

@Hart, indeed there is a lot of information available that you apparently are not reading! Replace every sentence with petrol and you have your ideal world. Every change comes with hurdles and if you like or not a new electric world is coming. Adopt and you will enjoy streets without noise and pollution.

@Lior and how these electric cars will be powered in the back end? Solar and wind, dream on. You will also be paying 4x for your electricity bill and enjoying black outs. Hope you ready for this inconvenience plus your electric car will be useless in 10 year time due to battery degradation. So much for environmently friendly approach.
