“We can say, with the information available, that there will be no shortage of water in the taps this year. In 2022 it was much more serious”, said José Furtado in an interview on Antena 1 and Jornal de Negócios.
The president of Águas de Portugal recalled the “contingency measures” and the public awareness of the Portuguese in 2022, considering now that “the topic of tariffs is relevant” to change water waste behaviors.
“Water is a scarce commodity and anyone who wants to abuse water, waste it, has to face consequences. As the use of plastic bags has repercussions”, compared the official, advocating that “there has to be positive discrimination for certain population segments”.
