In November alone, the tourist accommodation sector registered 2.2 million guests and 5 million overnight stays, which means growth of 14% and 9.8%, respectively. This increase was seen in all areas of the country, although it was more significant in the Center (+24.6%), in the Setúbal Peninsula (+19.3%), in the North (+18.3%) and in the Region Autonomous Region of the Azores (+16.4%).
“Night stays by residents registered a significant increase (+22.2%, after +0.9% in October), corresponding to 1.7 million, while those by non-residents registered a more modest growth (+4.6%, after +3.1% in October), totalling 3.4 million”, details the INE.
Analysing the performance of foreign markets, the British remained the main issuer (with a share of 14.7%), having grown 0.3% in November alone. Germany (12.5%) would have followed, after an increase of 2.1%. In the penultimate month of the year, Poland stood out among the Top 10 countries with the biggest increase (+15.9%), before Canada (12.4%) and the Netherlands (+11.9%), according to the national statistical body.
