In a statement, the municipality of Gaia, in the district of Porto, points out that this platform, included in the Portuguese project “Cooperative Streets” (C-Streets), is a system for consulting and monitoring mobility equipment and services operating in the municipality.

The launch of this platform had been reported in September last year and, in response to Lusa, the city hall said that it planned to have it available in mid-October. When asked about the postponement, the city government has not responded yet.

When consulting the application, it includes information about bus networks such as the Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP) or the Unir network, with tabs with the names “lines” or “stops” within the topic “Road Public Transport”.

In response to Lusa news agency, a source from the local authority said, regarding information from the Unir transport network, that the council is waiting for the operator to send the definitive information and in the necessary format so that it can be added to the platform.

The platform also provides real-time information on the state of car traffic in Gaia, thanks to a partnership between the municipality and Waze Mobile, within the scope of the “Waze For Cities – City Data Program”.

MOB+ also contains information on incidents that result in traffic interruptions or restrictions and their consequences for other mobility systems.

“Through this system, the user can, from their location identified by GPS, detect nearby mobility systems [buses, taxis, scooters, among others] and consult useful information for their use, as well as obtain immediate information about the traffic conditions and possible incidents in the surrounding area or along the route, parking areas, among other options”, says the city hall’s note.

MOB+ is available in the web version, at mobilidade.cm-gaia.pt, or through a mobile application available in the Play Store, for Android systems, and AppStore, for iOS systems.

“This platform is under constant development, with the aim of presenting new features that contribute to better mobility in Vila Nova de Gaia”, adds the Council.

The Portuguese project “Cooperative Streets” is co-financed by the European Commission and its main objective is to build and make available digital information on mobility in Portugal.
