Lisbon: The rain is set to continue on Saturday with some sunny spells and highs of 18 degrees. On Sunday it is to be mainly dry with heavy cloud cover and highs of 16 degrees. From Monday it will be looking brighter with prolonged sunny spells and average daily highs of 17 degrees and lows of 8 degrees.

The north: A mild weekend is forecast with intermittent sunshine and cloud cover and highs of 18 degrees. The following week, including Carnival Tuesday, will be slightly warmer with highs of 19 degrees and lows of 4 degrees at night, with prolonged sunny periods each day.

The centre: There will be a chance of rain on Saturday when it is expected to be overcast throughout the day with highs of 15 degrees. On Sunday there will be long periods of sunshine with highs of 15 degrees. For Carnival Tuesday a mixture of sunshine and light cloud cover is forecast with highs of 16 degrees.

The south: A mixture of sunshine and showers is forecast throughout the weekend in the south with highs of 17 degrees and lows of 10 degrees. The showers are to ease on Monday and it is to be mainly dry on Carnival Tuesday, with intermittent cloud cover and highs of 18 degrees, with lows of 10 degrees.

Madeira: Light showers and sunny periods are expected on both Saturday and Sunday with temperatures peaking at 20 degrees and dropping to lows of 15 degrees. The rain is to become heavier for Carnival Tuesday with temperatures slightly increasing to highs of 21 degrees.

The Azores: A mainly dry weekend is expected with highs of 17 degrees and lows of 12 degrees. On Tuesday the cloud cover is to clear slightly and there will be prolonged sunny periods with highs of 17 degrees.
