It has 18 floors in the main tower and a total capacity of 789 beds, 59 delivery rooms and 28 operating rooms, according to a report by ECO.
The company owned by the Costa Leite family, which is investing 28 million euros in the Vale de Cambra factory to increase production capacity by 30%, indicates that it supplied products such as large, double-leaf and sliding doors, “contributing to maximising spaces and mobility between the different areas” of the hospital complex.
“Doors with glass openings were also integrated, adding light, an essential feature in a hospital context, and with a ventilation grille, essential for air circulation between spaces. Access areas to rooms with radiology equipment are equipped with radiation-blocking doors, ensuring essential protection for professionals and users,” it adds in a statement.
In line with the hospital’s requirements, the chosen flooring was a high-pressure laminate for intensive use and with an oak pattern customised for this project, a solution that “offers resistance, durability and a contemporary aesthetic, suitable for high-performance hospital environments”.
Included in the “New Kuwait 2035” national development plan and located in the Al-Sabah medical area and close to the country's coast, the New Maternity Hospital occupies a total area of 360 thousand square meters. It comprises four interconnected buildings, including a main hospital, an outpatient consultation unit, a parking building with a capacity for 1,800 vehicles and a service centre.
Founded in 1959 and currently led by Arlindo Costa Leite, the producer of solutions for internal doors, frames, wardrobes, panels and furniture parts has clients in the hotel, housing and services sectors (education, health or commerce). It currently employs around 620 people.
In 2024, the turnover of the doors business reached 81 million euros, representing a “significant contribution” to Vicaima Madeiras, which closed last year with a global turnover of close to 115 million. Exports to more than 30 countries accounted for 90% of sales, according to the information given to ECO by Filipe Ferreira, director of Vicaima Indústria.
