Porto City Council will mark the National Day of Historic Centers, which is celebrated on March 28, with a programme full of activities that will run until the 30 March and that will take the party to the historic center of Invicta, shares Publituris.
Guided tours, exhibitions, workshops, music, theatre, dance and various workshops to celebrate the wealth, history, culture and tradition of the city of Porto are some of the planned initiatives, in a programme that proposes more than fifty activities.
“Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1996, the Historic Centre of Porto is once again celebrating the date with a wide range of cultural and recreational activities. The vast majority of activities are free, but subject to prior registration. The programme includes initiatives for all audiences, including children and families”, reads a press release from the Porto City Council.
In museums, monuments, churches and other spaces in Porto, there are also initiatives promoted by 27 entities, in a program coordinated by the municipality, in collaboration with the municipal company Ágora.
The programme kicks off with a concert on March 28th, at 7pm, at Praça Parada Leitão (in front of the Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto), with a performance by Ricardo Ribeiro, who will pay tribute to Carlos Paredes.
The programme of initiatives also includes the guided tour “Miragaia and Ceramics: past and present”, which will take place on 30 March, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, organised by the Porto Customs Museum and the Porto Museum and Libraries, which requires mandatory registration until 27 March by email museu@amtc.pt .
There is also a guided tour of the interior of the Clérigos Tower and Museum, between 10:00 am and 11:00 am, with a repeat from 16:00 pm to 17:00 pm, whereby registration must be made here.
Also noteworthy is the participation of the Carmo Barracks, headquarters of the GNR's Porto Territorial Command, which will be open on 29 and 30 March, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, where it will be possible to take part in horse baptisms and watch the performance of the "GNR's Charanga a Cavalo".
“Every celebration involves music and the Historic Centre is no exception. Several concerts are planned to provide the soundtrack to a weekend (including Friday) dedicated to culture and history. On 29 March, between 4pm and 5pm, the Porto Historic Centre Choir will take to the stage at the Palácio das Artes, on Rua das Flores”, the local authority also states.
The municipal urban rehabilitation company Porto Vivo, SRU is organizing a conference on 29 March, at Casa do Infante, between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, under the theme “What is a house?” and, on the same day, from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, in Viela de S. Lourenço (next to the church with the same name), Porto Vivo, SRU will present the intervention carried out there. plots.
