Scott’s journey in the world of skateboarding and surf skating is rooted in a deep passion for innovation and a love for the sport that began in his childhood. His father, who used to build skateboard decks as a part-time job in the 1970s in Cornwall, UK, introduced him to the world of skating at a young age. Growing up in an environment surrounded by skate culture and participating in skate competitions in his teenage years – winning a Southwest freestyle competition in the late 1970s - it’s no surprise that Scott would go on to develop his own approach to skateboarding.
In 2018, Scott moved to Portugal, hanging up his steel-toe-capped welder fabricator boots, where he found the time and inspiration to dive deeper into surf skate development. Portugal’s welcoming skateboarding community, particularly in the Algarve, played a major role in fostering his creative vision and giving him the space to experiment with new ideas.
The Liquid Revolver Front Truck is more than just a component - it’s the heart of Scott’s surf skate creation and the key to unlocking a completely new riding experience. The theory behind the set-up, the skateboarder shares, is that the rear standard truck acts as and replicates the function of a classic rear surfboard fin, and the Liquid Revolver Front Truck has little to no resistance, replicating what the front end of a typical surfboard offers. The truck’s design enables riders to embrace a new level of control, creativity, and fun on their skateboards.
Although the Liquid Revolver Front Truck is something exclusive in the market, Scott shares, “As opposed to perusing multiple sales, I would rather create a brand for what it stands for”. Capturing the nostalgia of small innovative industries of years past in the surf skate scene, he likes to build at his own pace. “Creating each board gives a feeling of satisfaction and thrill which has always been important to my life, and if interest is shown, then people can own a Crosstownboard Liquid Revolver board”.
His dedication to sustainability is also a key factor, with boards crafted from recycled wood and the Crosstownboards brand focusing on supporting animal charities through shirt giveaways. “I buy shirts from a local animal charity shop, then I add my Crosstownboards logo onto them, and after I give the shirts out for free to various skaters”. Scott’s laid-back approach and emphasis on building a brand that represents something meaningful is what makes it stand out.
Scott also participates in a weekly surf skate event organised by Surf Skate Algarve, led by Rosa, where skaters gather to ride some of the most scenic and thrilling roads in southwest Portugal. Whether he’s skateboarding, meeting new people, or riding his motorbike loaded with surf skates, Scott continues to stay true to his roots, constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of surf skating.
