The French runner was the first to complete the MIUT ‘queen’ race, covering the route that connects the island of Madeira, in a northwest-southeast direction, starting in Porto Moniz, at midnight on Saturday, 26 April, crossing the finish line in Machico, with a time of 12:54.54 hours.

Portuguese Miguel Arsénio finished in second place, with a final time of 13:00.30, while Romanian Raul Butaci completed the podium with almost nine minutes of difference to the winner (13:03.48).

In the women’s event, American Katie Schide took the victory, finishing the course in 14:20.56 hours, with Martina Klancnik, from Slovenia, completing the race in second place (16:58.32) and Frenchwoman Mathilde Dujon being third (18:26.29).

Due to the fires that took place in Madeira during the summer, this year’s edition had changes to its route and registered around 2,600 participants, down from 3,481 who competed in 2024. The MIUT also included 85-, 60-, 42- and 16-kilometre races.

Among the 1600 foreigners registered, France was the most represented country, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom, and Poland, out of a total of 67 nationalities, which constitutes a new record.
