The fundraiser showcased the remarkable range of talent from the school, with performances spanning classical ballet to contemporary dance. Audiences were treated to everything from a pointe rendition of "The Nutcracker" by senior students to charming routines from the youngest members of the dance school.

"This event represented the heart of our community in the East Algarve," said Ana Dias, director of ABC Dance School. "Our students are not just developing as dancers but as ambassadors for Vila Real de Santo António on both national and international stages."


Following the successful fundraiser, the dancers travelled to Fatima, where they competed against performers from across Portugal and returned with multiple awards and honours. The city of Vila Real de Santo António generously donated transportation, providing a van so the children could travel together to the competition.

The school's dancers have been on an impressive winning streak at recent competitions throughout the country, with students of all age groups bringing home medals and recognition in various dance categories. These achievements highlight the exceptional training provided by ABC Dance School and the dedication of its young performers.

"These competitions provide invaluable opportunities for our dancers to exchange techniques and ideas with peers from across the nation," said Ana Dias. "They return not only with awards but with new perspectives, having learned from other instructors and students while showcasing our region's unique approach to dance."


While based in Vila Real de Santo António, ABC Dance School draws students from throughout the East Algarve, with dedicated young dancers traveling from neighbouring communities to train at this centre of excellence. This regional draw has created a diverse student body that enriches the school's creative environment.

A highlight of recent achievements includes Thomas, an exceptional student who has earned a prestigious international scholarship to a dance academy in Berlin and has since secured an additional scholarship opportunity. The community's generosity helped cover Thomas's travel expenses, accommodation, and living costs during these career-defining opportunities.


"Our community proves that this beautiful corner of Portugal produces more than just stunning beaches and riverside views," added lead choreographer. "We cultivate a supportive environment that encourages our youth to experience the world and bring those experiences back to enrich our community."
