This year’s event will take place from 27 to 31 May at the Albufeira Marina. Organisers of the Digital Nomads Association in Portugal state that the event will be a “transformative experience for digital nomads and remote workers from around the world”.
The festival combines expert talks, hands-on workshops, and beachside fun, all designed to celebrate freedom, connection and personal growth. Attendees can enjoy live music at sunset, coastal boat tours, electronic music sets, hikes along the stunning Falésia Beach trails, food tastings, beach volleyball, paddleboard lessons, and more.
Far from your typical festival, Nomad World Fest offers a unique blend of insightful sessions on topics such as remote work, Web3, co-living, co-working, AI, and the future of work – challenging traditional ideas about work and lifestyle.
A key draw is the event’s vibrant setting - the scenic beauty of Albufeira and the warm local hospitality. In return, the festival brings significant visibility to the region across social media platforms, strengthening Albufeira’s standing in the global digital nomad community.
Albufeira’s Mayor, José Carlos Rolo, commented on the importance of the city’s Sala Azul (Blue Room) as a digital nomad hub, stating that “its success speaks to our ongoing commitment and support for growing this sector.” He highlighted the appeal of remote work to Generations Y and Z, noting research that shows younger workers increasingly value the freedom to work from anywhere - “even if it means writing a report with their feet in the sea,” he added, distinguishing this lifestyle from traditional remote work.
Mayor Rolo is optimistic that Albufeira will feature prominently in social media posts during the festival, helping to spread a positive image of the city and its warm welcome to nomads from around the globe.
Last year’s edition, held from 30 July to 27 October, saw impressive engagement: over 106,000 views across social media. Stories accounted for 36.6% of the views, posts 37%, and Reels 24.4%. Over 7 thousand stories were shared between September and October, and the average overall reach per post during the 2024 event increased by 926%, reaching about 240 views per post compared to the previous year.
Portugal led the top 10 countries searching for information about the event (26.88%), followed by the U.S. (12.10%), Spain (11.83%), the UK (6.72%), Germany (3.49%), Italy (3.36%), Brazil (2.69%), the Netherlands (2.28%), Canada (2.15%), and Switzerland (2.02%).
