“It is not sold out yet, but it is on its way to being sold out. Therefore, we are convinced that we will have the largest audience ever for a classical music concert in Portugal”, said Tiago Castelo Branco, executive director of the promoter company MOT - Espetáculos e Entretenimento Lda., to the Lusa news agency.
According to Tiago Castelo Branco, “for the same show, on the same day, it is the largest audience ever”.
With a capacity of 25,000 seats, a symphony orchestra with 80 musicians and a choir with 70 voices, the promoter anticipates “another great concert by Andrea Bocelli, celebrating the artist’s 30-year career”.
“It’s a special show, which will bring great guests to accompany him in this show and it’s a great moment in the career of the artist who is very connected to Portugal, has a very close relationship with Portugal and the Portuguese public”, he said, recalling the last shows he gave in the country and the reception of the public.
The executive director of MOT said that Andre Bocelli “brings to Portugal a different line-up, a slightly different approach”, believing that “he will provide the public with a truly memorable concert”.
“The choir that will accompany Bocelli is the one that was formed in 2021 for the Coimbra concert. They are all amateur musicians who are part of three choirs from Coimbra and, since we are holding the concert in Leiria, we invited two choirs from Leiria,” he said.
The choirs of Orfeão de Leiria and Ninfas do Lis, from Leiria, and the Mixed Choir of the Academic Association of Coimbra, Coimbra Vocal Choir and the Coro dos Antigos Orfeonistas da Universidade de Coimbra will participate.
The concert starts at 9:30 pm.
“People who are not trying to get to the stadium [by car], because the perimeter is closed, should park in the car parks and use the shuttle, and come as early as possible for the concert,” asked Tiago Castelo Branco, adding that a hot night is expected, so he also recommends that people keep hydrated.
According to information from Leiria City Council, there are several free and paid car parks nearby, and people can get to the stadium on foot, by shuttle or by taxi/TVDE.
The shuttle service is free and provided by the municipality between 5pm and 10pm and from 11:30pm to 2am, from Mercado do Falcão, Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão, and Olhalvas (hospital), with all services going to the north entrance of the stadium (near Nerlei).
