The annual report, compiled by Transparency International explains that while corruption has stagnated in Portugal, it has become progressively worse elsewhere around the globe.

Denmark and New Zealand performed best, closely followed by Finland and Sweden.

For the tenth year running, Somalia is the worst performer on the index. South Sudan is second to bottom, followed by North Korea and Syria.
