The minority Socialist government’s alliance partner argues that tolls, introduced little over five years ago, have seen the region regress 20 years, with the secondary EN125 road the source of a rising number of accidents and fatalities.
The party also says that tourism in the region has also lost competiveness to neighbouring Spain as a result of tolls on the Algarve’s only motorway.
As a regular visitor to the Algarve (& as all visitors) l think we bring enough money into the Poruguese economy with without taxing us further to use the main access route. I have not used the A22 since the tolls were introduced in support of local people, so look forward to eventually reading they are gone.

The motorway was paid for by the EU for the benefit of the Portuguese people. Why there is a toll at all beggars belief.
At the very least all lorries should be taken off the N125 and put onto the motorway. That will massively increase the safety of the N125,reducing fatal accidents
