Former World Number One Westwood was the unanimous favourite, picking up 76 percent of the public vote. Australian Lucas Herbert came in second with 14 percent after his maiden European Tour victory at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
Westwood’s victory in Abu Dhabi came somewhat out of the blue after confessing earlier in the week that he had not played much golf over the festive period. The 46-year-old certainly didn’t show it, however, shooting four rounds in the 60s in what was a vintage Westwood tee-to-green display as he went on to win by two shots at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
