The epicenter was located about 85 kilometres south of Faro.

"This earthquake, according to the information available so far, did not cause personal or material damage and was felt with maximum intensity IV (modified Mercalli scale) in the municipality of Olhão (Faro)", indicated the IPMA.

According to the Spanish news agency EFE, the earthquake was also felt this at various points along the coast of Huelva.

According to the Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN), the earthquake occurred at 22:03 local time (21:03 Lisbon time).

On the Portuguese coast, "it was felt with lesser intensity in the municipalities of Albufeira, Faro and Loulé (Faro)", concluded the IPMA.
