In 2021, the 14 executive presidents of PSI companies received €15.5 million gross (the Portuguese stock exchange consisted of 15 companies, but EDP Renováveis and EDP share the same CEO, Miguel Stilwell de Andrade), with more than half of this made by six companies, which remunerated each CEO with more than €1 million.
The list of the highest paid CEO’s is led by Miguel Stilwell de Andrade.
According to Expresso, the CEO of EDP Renováveis and EDP had a gross remuneration of €1.85 million last year. He also had the highest fixed salary (€950,496).
The list of the best paid managers on the Portuguese stock exchange in 2021 also includes João Castello Branco, CEO of Semapa, and Cláudia Azevedo, CEO of Sonae, who occupy the second and third places, respectively. It should be noted, however, that Cláudia Azevedo earned a little over €1.1 million in variable remuneration, more than the EDP leader (903,571 euros).

These are very low salaries by international standards, with an average income of only €1.1 million. In the UK the average CEO of the FTSE 100 index probably makes around £3 million (€3.6 million), or over three times as much, while in the US, CEO pay packages regularly top $10 million.
