The Atlantic Roots Festival will return to Funchal later this June, from the 23rd through the 25th. The 21st edition of the festival will see six concerts take place over the course of three days, all at Praça do Povo in Funchal. The festival has endured two years of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The regional secretary highlighted the premieres of the band Ayom and the Cape Verdean artist Miroca Paris.
"We want, above all, to combine tradition with some modernity and multiculturalism, as a festival of the sounds of the Atlantic," he said.
On 23 June, the Madeirans D'Repente will perform at 21:30, and the band Ayom at 22:30. The following day, Pedro Marques, from Madeira, will take the stage at 21:00, followed by Miroca Paris at 22:30.
On the last day of the festival, June 25th, Mano a Mano, a duo formed by the Madeiran brothers André and Bruno Santos, will perform at 21:00, and the Brazilian Alcione at 23:00.
The 2022 Atlantic Roots Festival, organised by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture, constitutes an investment of €240,000.
Admission to the festival is free.
