This is an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month - as the institute revised downwards the May data -, but a drop of 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period in 2021.

In a previously released information note, INE indicated that the unemployment rate had advanced by 0.2 points in May compared to April, to 6.1%. Now, the institute reports that the unemployment rate in May was 6%.

As for June, INE reports that the rate increased to 6.1%, that is, “a value higher than the previous month by 0.1 percentage points (p.p.) and the three months before by 0.2 p.p., but lower by 0.6 p.p. than a year earlier”.

In this context, the unemployed population increased by 1% in June compared to May to 313.7 thousand people (an additional 3 thousand unemployed people). Compared to the same period in 2021, there is a fall of 8.8% (30,400 fewer unemployed people).
