Portugal has been under the effects of depression, Nuria since Thursday, which has led to warnings about strong winds, rain and rough seas.
Speaking to the Lusa news agency, Paulo Santos, from ANEPC, said that there were no reports of victims, serious accidents or closed roads and that the Setúbal Peninsula was the most affected by the bad weather.
“The night ended up being somewhat normal considering what was expected. We had 43 incidents, the majority in the Setúbal Peninsula with 11, seven in Greater Lisbon, seven in Faro and four in the Coimbra Region and the rest distributed across other regions,” he said.
Due to the forecast of bad weather, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed the districts of Faro, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja and Coimbra (until 3 pm today) under yellow warning due to strong south/southeast winds, with gusts of up to 80 km/h, especially on the coast.
The IPMA also placed the 18 districts of the mainland today due to the sometimes heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
Also the districts of Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja and Faro until the end of today due to the forecast of strong sea agitation, with southwest waves of 4 to 4.5 meters.
The Madeira archipelago is also being affected by the passage of depression Nuria, and the IPMA issued a yellow warning for today of wind with gusts that can reach 120 km/h in mountainous regions and rain.
