Analysis by Expresso of INE data reveals that 75 percent of teleworking professionals in the second quarter of 2022 had higher education training. Considering the total universe of the employed population in the country with higher education, 40.8 percent were telecommuting between April and June this year.

Six out of ten teleworkers are specialists in intellectual and scientific activities. In the ranking of professions with the greatest weight in telework, "intermediate level technicians and professionals" also stand out (15.5 percent), followed by "representatives of the legislature and executive bodies, directors and executive managers" (10.8 percent).

By sectors of activity, the data reveals that teleworking is concentrated in services. The largest share belongs to "education", with 22 percent of the total number of teleworkers, followed by "information and communication activities" (14.6 percent) and "consulting, scientific, technical and similar activities", with 13 percent.
