The Pinto Coelho family, the previous owner of the Martinhal Cascais hotel and owner of the Onyria Golf Resorts, Onyria Quinta da Marinha Hotel and Onyria Quinta da Marinha Golf brands, contacted the Stern family, owner of the Elegant Group, to acquire the hotel and bring it back into their portfolio according to a report by Publituris.

Chitra and Roman Stern accepted the purchase offer last October, and the property will be handed over on January 8, 2023. In a statement, those responsible for the Elegant Group assure that Martinhal Cascais “will continue to be a five-star hotel” where employees and guests will be treated with the utmost respect and care”.

The Pinto Coelho family has owned the golf course since 1985 and the Quinta da Marinha hotel since 1999. For this reason, the Stern family states that “keeping in mind the other properties and businesses of the Onyria group in Quinta da Marinha, this hotel makes perfect sense for the brand's portfolio”.

On a final note, the Elegant Group states that it “will continue to look for other opportunities for the Martinhal brand, as well as other real estate projects in Portugal”, ensuring that it “has no plans to sell the other properties”.
