Netgear is a “provider of award-winning connected products designed to simplify and improve people's lives, in the award-winning Penrose Dock development within Cork city’s Victorian Quarter.”

Currently employing 46 people in a variety of roles including finance, customer operations, logistics & distribution, digital marketing, data operations, HR, legal, customer support & advocacy, support engineering, sales, and IT support in Ireland, Netgear, a California-based company with its headquarters in San Jose, first opened an international headquarters in Cork in 2006.

Netgear is a company that has "pioneered advanced networking technologies for homes, businesses, and service providers around the world for nearly three decades.”

According to the company, to enhance its hardware offerings, it is undergoing an “evolutionary change” in the way it offers software subscription services.

The launch of the new office coincides with Netgear's intention to establish a software development centre of excellence in Cork as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its capacity for software engineering.

The centre’s primary goal will be to develop cutting-edge apps, such those that enhance Netgear's premium Orbi and Nighthawk connected home devices.

Currently, available value-added services include Netgear Smart Parental Controls, which enables parents to effortlessly monitor their family's online time and foster good behaviours, and Armour, Powered by Bitdefender, which offers an automated layer of security for all Wi-Fi and connected devices in the house.

“It's fantastic to see Netgear strengthening its investment in Cork with the opening of its new International HQ at Penrose Dock,” stated Mr. Coveney. After establishing its initial foothold in Cork 17 years ago, Netgear has bolstered the local economy and quality of life in Cork. Long may it stay that way.

Dr. Martin Westhead, Chief Technology Officer of Netgear, stated, “Netgear has a strong track record in Cork, Ireland, having established our international headquarters here in 2006.”

Establishing an exceptional hub for software development in Ireland is a significant and thrilling stride in our direction to quicken our shift to a more software-focused organisation. Ireland is a great place to increase our software development skills because of its strategic location between the US and other international locations as well as the pool of highly educated and diversified personnel that exists here.
