The former host of the Late Late Show made the announcement in November that he will be taking on his first broadcast role after leaving RTÉ in January 2024. His first programme is scheduled for Thursday, January 4.

But now word has leaked out that Tubridy will be reaching listeners two days early, on Tuesday, January 2, at 10 a.m.

The Dubliner, a three-hour period that will also air on Dublin's Q102 station for Irish listeners, will come after his colleague Chris Evans' show.

In addition to Tubridy's broadcasts, which air Monday through Friday, he also intends to air an Irish-focused programme on Q102, 96FM in Cork, Live 95 in Limerick, and LMFM.

During a recent podcast appearance, the fifty-year-old stated that his decision to leave RTÉ at that time was the right one.

Ryan stated on the show, “I was so happy I chose to go when I did,” and he added that he felt “out of juice” following Covid.

“It was a little earlier than I was contractually obliged to go but I knew in my heart the time was right.”

Even though he had offers from both sides of the Atlantic after leaving RTÉ, the host acknowledged that at the time, the UK was more tempting to him.

“Going anyplace else in Ireland is difficult after doing the Late Late Show. Not to come out as rude, but I've tried everything here and I truly enjoy it. But it's time for a shift.”
