According to Revolut, the majority of Portuguese will take their summer holidays between July and August and intend to stay in the country. For trips abroad, Spain and Brazil are the preferred destinations within and outside Europe, respectively.
The Portuguese plan to go on family holidays, beach holidays, and all-inclusive holidays.
The application asked more than 15 thousand people in 15 countries, including a thousand in Portugal, about their travel plans for the summer and, like the Portuguese, Europeans also plan to go on vacation to the beach (45%).
The conclusion of the study shows that the majority plan their main vacation during the months of August (36%) and July (19%). September, which has been seen as the favourite month for those who want to escape the summer crowds, comes in third place on the podium, with 13%. For those who like to relax with few people around, the best months for vacation are October, which brings together 2.7%, December 2%, and November 1.4%, while 7% of respondents said they had no plans to go on vacation in 2024.
"Portuguese choosing staycations"? We see this headline every year, but are many of them really choosing? A more accurate headline would be "Portuguese still can't afford to travel abroad".
