The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) have stated that "temperatures below average for the time of year" in mainland Portugal will continue throughout this week due to an anticyclone.
"This week will be characterised by maximum temperature values below the average for the time of year, and this scenario is expected to continue until the middle of next week", indicated the IPMA, in a statement published on social media.
According to the note, "influencing the weather" in the country is an "anticyclone located slightly west of the Azores archipelago, which extends in a ridge to Iceland".
After the "weakening" of the "anticyclonic ridge", there may be "periods of light rain or drizzle" between Friday and Monday, "especially along the North and Central coast, with probabilities ranging between 70 and 100% on the 14th and slightly lower on the 16th ".
