This result for the restaurant sector was due, in addition to inflation, to demand from families and companies, as well as the growth of tourism, explains Informa D&B.
The analysis allowed us to conclude that the change in consumption habits made the 'fast food' segment the most dynamic, with its turnover registering an increase of 10.5% in 2023, to 1,525 million euros, the equivalent of 28.2% of the sector's total.
Restaurants with table service earned 3,690 million euros, the remainder corresponding to aggregate revenues from self-services.
Furthermore, Informa D&B's projections indicate that in 2024 and 2025 the aggregate turnover of Portuguese restaurants "will maintain a growth trajectory, albeit at a lower rate than in previous years".

The five largest companies in the sector by turnover had a combined market share of 14% in 2023, while the ten largest had 19%, concludes the analysis carried out.
