The issue is an interruption to car traffic on Rua Barão do Corvo, between Rua Visconde das Devesas and Rua José Mariani (approximately 100 meters to the east of this street), as well as on Rua Felizardo Lima, next to Rua Barão do Corvo.
According to information available on the municipality's website, the traffic interruption is expected to come into effect on Monday and last until 16 January 2027.
The Rubi Line will connect Santo Ovídio to Casa da Música via a new bridge over the Douro and will have a station in Devesas, which will interface with the train and buses and must be ready by the end of 2026.
Since this week, traffic direction changes have been in force on Mouzinho de Albuquerque Street, between the intersection with Rua Alexandre Braga and Rua Visconde das Devesas, from south/north to north/south, and on Rua Heliodoro Salgado, between Rua Conselheiro Veloso da Cruz and Rua Professor Manuel Pires Veloso, from south/north to north/south.
Several one-way streets were also adapted to two-way traffic, such as José Mariani Street, between the intersection of Rua Carlos Guedes de Amorim and Rua Visconde das Devesas/Rua José Fontana, Rua Barão do Corvo, to the east of Rua José Mariani, up to the construction zone, for access to housing/shops, and Rua Felizardo Lima, to the north at the intersection with Travessa Visconde das Devesas.
On Rua Professor Manuel Pires Veloso, there is a change from two directions to one (north-south).
As for pedestrian diversions, pedestrian access will always be guaranteed via Rua Barão do Corvo, depending on the stage of execution of the works, demolition, and excavation of Estação das Devesas, as well as the crossing of Rua Felizardo Lima via a pedestrian crossing, leading to Travessa Visconde das Devesas.
Parking will also be prohibited on Rua Heliodoro Salgado.
The overall investment value of Linha Rubi (Casa da Música - Santo Ovídio, including a new bridge over the Douro River) is 435 million, an investment financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
The Ruby Line, with 6.4 kilometres and eight stations, includes a new crossing over the Douro, the D. Antónia Ferreira bridge, Ferreirinha, which will be exclusively reserved for the metro and pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
In Gaia, the stations planned for the Ruby Line are Santo Ovídio, Soares dos Reis, Devesas, Rotunda, Candal, and Arrábida, and in Porto Campo Alegre and Casa da Música.
