The alert for the incident was given at 5:13 p.m. and required the mobilisation of several emergency resources, including 109 operational personnel and 47 technical resources.
A source from Civil Protection explained to Notícias ao Minuto that the resources were deployed due to "an emergency situation triggered by the airport" and were subsequently demobilised, with no intervention being carried out.
"The situation was resolved without any incidents being recorded," he explained.
According to the Flightradar website, the Airbus 319 plane left Faro airport bound for London, UK, at 5:04 p.m., returning to the ground minutes later.
According to CNN Portugal, there was a technical problem and the plane had to drop fuel before landing.
