The enormous number of gifts come from donations which reflect the amazing and generous support of the community in and around São Brás de Alportel.

HHA is a charitable organisation that has been operating for more than 15 years. Their aim is to raise funds to help disadvantaged children and families in São Brás de Alportel, Loulé and Faro. The main areas of support are Primeira Infância in Loulé, APPC - the training school for children and families suffering from Cerebral Palsey – working with São Brás Câmara and social services they help with the funding of spectacles and dental adjustments for disadvantaged children.

For the last two years HHA has teamed up with The Amigos do Museu in São Brás de Alportel. In this festive month, their aim is to bring some joy to impoverished families who are deprived of Christmas toys and gadgets. Up to 2500 children who were selected by various Câmaras and Social Services around the Algarve, have received a present, or will soon.

The Salvation Army, where all the donated gifts were collected, takes care of the distribution of the presents to various Social Service departments who then deliver them to the children, thus preserving the privacy and identity of the families.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community members who donated so many toys, board games and dolls,“ says Richard Brice, representative of HHA. “This is the true Christmas spirit: a time for giving, especially to those who can use a little extra light and magic in this holiday season”.
