“It is a great honor for me to announce that John Arrigo will be the next United States Ambassador to Portugal,” said Trump on his social network Truth Social.
“John is a highly successful entrepreneur in the automotive industry and a champion golfer,” the former president stated. “For over thirty years, he has been an incredible leader in business in West Palm Beach and is respected by all.”
Trump expressed his confidence in Arrigo’s capabilities: “I have known John for a long time. He will do an incredible job for our country and always put America FIRST.”
Arrigo has been a close associate of the tycoon since at least 2006, the American news portal BuzzFeed News said in 2018.
According to Arrigo's profile on the social network LinkedIn, the businessman was for more than 35 years vice president of the Arrigo Automotive Group, which operates in West Palm Beach, where Trump's residence, Mar-a-Lago, is located.
In 2019, Arrigo told The Palm Beach Post that he ran five car dealerships in South Florida along with his brother, Jim Arrigo, with about 600 employees.
No doubt he'll be driving around in a Tesla!

Wow! Such an embarrassment. What a clown car, the only requirement is to be loyal to the ignorant arrogant orange moron, and of course to be very rich.

He wants to drive American cars; try getting Americans to drive European cars - it simply can't happen.

Surprising - he’s missing the most important qualifications for a Trump appointee - being a felon or sex offender or both. Maybe we just don’t know yet.

Ambassador Levine has made mission-wide efforts to enhance the long-standing diplomatic, commercial, educational, cultural and defense collaborations between Portugal and the United States.
As Ambassador, she is responsible for advancing U.S. political and economic policy, including strengthening defense cooperation and enhancing commercial opportunities. In 2023, she led a unique bilateral trade and investment mission to increase trade and investment linkages between U.S. and Portuguese companies in the renewable energy and critical minerals sectors and diversify our supply chains.
An enthusiastic advocate for cultural diplomacy, Ambassador Levine has led the U.S. Mission to Portugal in deploying an array of culinary, sports, music, and visual arts diplomacy that have gained wide-spread attention and raised awareness on shared values. Yep a car salesman who plays golf is, I am sure up to the task/

Same idiotic anti-Trump ranting by same selected readers. Open up the eyes: Trump won the popular vote, the absolute majority of Americans elected him, and rightfully so.

Funny how all the European loonies think that a successful businessman is a joke in comparison to all the loonies and freak-shows appointed by Biden. And the same loonies really believe that the Stalinist show trials conducted against Trump actually amounted to legitimate indictments. Poor Europe, it's going down the drain when so many believe that totalitarian leftism is avant-garde and fashionable, like the ugly grotesque tattoos that everyone is sporting in the Old World.

However, being a good ambassador also requires empathy, diplomacy, and the ability to represent diverse viewpoints. These qualities are not necessarily linked to wealth or entrepreneurial success. It's also important for them to have a genuine understanding and commitment to the cause they are advocating for.
