Starting this Monday, between January 20th and 26th, both diesel and petrol prices will increase, according to forecasts from the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP).

The ACP estimate, using information from industry sources, indicates that diesel will cost approximately 5.5 cents more per litre, while the price of petrol will be three cents more expensive than this week.

“If the forecasts for next week are confirmed, the average price of simple diesel should be 1.699 euros per litre [€/l] while that of regular 95 petrol should be 1.781 €/l. Please note that these forecasts are made based on the assumption that the extraordinary tax reduction measures applied by the government will be maintained to mitigate price increases,” explains ACP.

According to the General Directorate of Energy and Geology (DGEG), the average price of a litre of diesel in Portugal this Friday, January 17, was 1.644 euros, while that of gasoline is (still) at 1,751 euros.

This is a change in relation to this week's price list when the price of a litre of diesel went up by one cent and the price of gasoline did not change. “It is still possible to see that, compared to January 1, 2024, current prices reflect an increase of 9.1 cents in diesel but are the same in the case of petrol,” adds the ACP.
