Morocco increased its tomato production by 17.36 percent from 2014 to 2023, while European countries such as Spain and the Netherlands reduced their output by 18.83 percent and 19.93 percent.

The decrease in European production has allowed Morocco and Turkey to step up and meet growing demand, benefiting from favourable policies and proximity to the EU market.
Despite Morocco's growing role as a key supplier of fresh tomatoes to the European Union, it faces difficulties in managing the volatile prices domestically.
