“A baggage handling plan is being implemented at Lisbon airport in conjunction with various entities. Passengers will start to be contacted by airlines with information about the delivery of their baggage,” the airport manager said in a statement.
ANA reported a high level of demand at airline counters to reschedule flights cancelled on Monday, due to the total power outage that affected the Iberian Peninsula and part of France, and ground handling services for baggage delivery.
Hundreds of passengers were waiting this morning for their luggage to be delivered at Humberto Delgado airport in Lisbon, which on Monday was not immediately unloaded upon arrival due to the blackout.
A passenger who arrived from South Africa on Monday told Lusa that he has been trying to receive his bags and a folding bicycle since the moment he landed.
"The luggage is not lost, but it is the second time I have been in this queue since yesterday [Monday]. For reasons related to the power outage, the luggage did not go directly to the luggage conveyor belt. It remained on the plane and we were told that we could collect it later", lamented South African passenger Martin Roberts.
Another passenger who arrived from the United States mid-morning today and is expecting to travel tonight on a flight to Luanda, Angola, said he needs to retrieve his luggage before he can board.
"My bag and even my carry-on backpack went to the hold and now I have to try everything to get them out here. I come from Newark (United States)," said Justino de Melo.
Chega can make those bags disappear, baby!
Oh.

I tried to get my luggage last night after United Airlines told me I could pick it up till 11 pm. The staff at the airport said everything dealing with the unloaded luggage that arrive on Monday. and was not offloaded, would be available based on a schedule per flight. We all had our horror stories about leaving Lisbon and needing our luggage. They did not care! Still not sure when I am getting my luggage! Very poor impression of your country.

My luggage was not offloaded by EasyJet on Monday and I was told to contact the airline in the morning. Could t get through so took taxi to airport where EasyJet rep said return after 17.00 to get my bag. Went to my Sintra destination and got a taxi to arrive at airport at 17.30. After one hour in queue for Port way handlers I was told to fill out an online form with Easy jet to say where to send my luggage.. am still waiting for contact from airline and it is now 19.00 on Wednesday

Approaching the end of the fourth day with no updates on our baggage and we are due to fly home tomorrow. We haven’t found anyone that has been updated on when or how the bags will be returned especially from any easyJet flights.
