The new health unit, financed by community funds, aims to “resolve service deficiencies in the current Tavira Health Centre”, says the municipality in a statement.

The city government highlights that “investing in building infrastructure for the health sector is vital to guarantee populations’ access to daily and essential care, such as disease prevention”.

The building, with two wings – north and south – will be equipped with spaces for external specialist consultations, examinations and specialist treatments and Dentistry, in the north wing.

In the south wing, there will be outpatient surgery, endoscopy, paediatrics, integrated diagnostic center (CDI), computerised axial tomography (CT scan), radiography, analysis and laboratory, physiotherapy and rehabilitation units.

The property will have additional facilities, including recovery rooms, changing rooms, and multipurpose rooms for libraries, training and meetings.
