The initiative promotes the Algarve as "an ideal place to start and develop a career in the health sector and as an attractive area to live", reads a statement by the ULS of the Algarve.
The hospital administration intends to fill the 113 vacancies for the recruitment of specialist doctors, 28 of which will have financial incentives for the most needy specialties.
For the chairman of the board of directors of ULS/Algarve, Tiago Botelho, quoted in the note, filling all vacancies “will allow us to reinforce the region’s hospitals and health centres, guaranteeing family doctors to almost 100% of the population and filling gaps in several specialties”.
The competition includes a total of 113 vacancies, 74 for Hospital Health Care, 34 for Primary Care and five for Public Health.
According to Tiago Botelho, 28 vacancies have financial incentives, aimed at specialties lacking in Angiology and General and Vascular Surgeries, Gynaecology/Obstetrics, Clinical Medicine, Psychiatry and Nephrology.
The incentives also apply to the specialties of Gastroenterology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Intensive Medicine, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Medical Oncology, Orthopaedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Paediatrics, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Public Health.
The Algarve ULS highlights that this competition represents “a great opportunity to attract and retain new specialist doctors in the Algarve hospitals” of the National Health Service.
“Because they are integrated into a local university-based health unit, they now have the opportunity to pursue a career not only in the health sector, but also in teaching and research”, concludes the note from ULS/Algarve.
