“A large part of these occurrences are related to the wind, therefore falling trees, falling structures and cleaning of roads”, the operations officer of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) Elísio Pereira told Lusa.
These 207 incidents do not include the city of Lisbon, since the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment does not report the data to ANEPC. Lusa attempted to obtain information from the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment, but this report was postponed until later, as it was verifying “many incidents”.
According to data from ANEPC, between 00:00 and 10:00 today, the regions most affected by adverse weather conditions during this period were the Porto Metropolitan Area, with 39 occurrences, followed by Greater Lisbon, with 33, and Coimbra, with 27.
Regarding the typology of occurrences, the majority have to do with falling trees, with 112 situations, and 49 falling structures, with 24 landslide situations and 11 road clearing cases, indicated Elísio Pereira.
According to the ANEPC operations officer, there are no reports of injuries or significant material damage.
On Friday, between 00:00 and 23:59, ANEPC registered 1,038 occurrences in mainland Portugal, in addition to 235 situations registered by the Lisbon Firefighters' Regiment, making a total of more than 1,200.
Between Wednesday and Thursday, the two most intense days regarding the passage of depression Martinho, ANEPC recorded a total of 8,600 occurrences in mainland Portugal.
