Coffee price hike

The price of ground roasted coffee has reached its highest price in three years.

The price of the food basket has dropped again this week. It now costs 238 euros and 20 cents.

According to DECO Proteste, the set of 63 essential goods has dropped by 34 cents. However, some products have increased in price. This is the case for whole grains, roasted coffee, and liquid yogurt.

According to DECO Proteste, between the first two weeks of Apri,l “a package containing 250 grams of ground roasted coffee rose 45 cents (+12%) to 4.18 euros”.

But this was not an isolated case. Between 2 and 9 April, whole grains saw an increase of 53 cents (+15%), liquid yoghurt 0.23 cents (+11%) and courgette 0.16 cents (+9%).

Despite these increases, the price of the food basket fell again this week. It now costs 238.16 euros, 34 cents less, which represents a drop of 14%.

Compared to longer time periods, calculations made by DECO show that since the beginning of this year, the basket of essential goods has increased by 1.99; however, a year ago, to buy the same basket, consumers paid 20 cents less.
