We were somewhat disappointed at the member turnout at the meeting, although we had pointed out that this AGM was critical to the clubs survival only a handful of non-committee members attended.

As usual at our A.G.M.'s the meeting included a speech from the Chairperson summarising our activities since the previous A.G.M., naturally concentrating on some of the more enjoyable events - of which there were several. This was followed by the treasurer’s report which showed the club to be in a financially healthy position for the year ahead, as verified by our honorary auditor.

A major part of the proceedings this year were given over to electing new committee members; this process is necessary most years as it is normal for the committee members to rotate, but this year all but one had previously given notice that they would be standing down. With a little arm-twisting we were able to obtain volunteers for all but one of the vacant positions at the meeting. The combination of the 'old' and 'new' committee members will be working to find someone to take up that final role as secretary so that, for the first time in several years, we will have a full committee again. Since we have heard that other clubs are having a similar problem recruiting organisers we are attributing the difficulty to the unfortunate effects of the dreaded Covid. The transfer from the 'old' to the 'new' committees will take place at a handover meeting just before our next event to ensure everything goes smoothly. The new committee consists of some newer and younger members, so we are looking forward to them bringing some fresh ideas for events that all of us can enjoy in the coming club year, they have already started work on planning events for May.

Business matters complete; the restaurant staff re-laid our table and we proceeded to partake of a very pleasant three course dinner and a well-deserved glass (or two) of wine, all very much enjoyed. This was CASA's first visit to A Pont, a bright and modern welcoming venue with attentive staff and good food, four other groups of similar size were also present, enjoying the hospitality.

As always the full details of all our events are on our website: www.casasocial.club
