“ANA continues to work with various entities to ensure that baggage delivery is completed under the best possible conditions. To this end, passenger support and information teams have been reinforced,” the airport manager said in a statement.
According to ANA, operations at airports are proceeding normally, following the power outage that affected Portugal and Spain on Monday, and since Tuesday, ground handling companies have been delivering baggage to passengers.
Contacted by Lusa, Ruben Simas, from the National Union of Civil Aviation Workers (Sintac), said that the information he has is that the service is being restored “as far as possible”.
On Tuesday, Lisbon airport reported that it was implementing a plan to handle baggage, given the high number of people at baggage drop-off counters, adding that passengers would start to be contacted by airlines.
ANA reported high levels of demand at airline counters to reschedule flights cancelled on Monday and handling services to deliver baggage.
